Local band Versus You are one of the more established bands in the country and certainly all the band members have great experience in the Luxembourg music scene.

Their release party for a new single called “This war is like a drug to you” took place in Melusina night club recently, a song that since then has progressively climbed the Luxembourg music charts and is currently sitting at number six, but on an upward trend.

Station was there at the release party to celebrate with the guys and of course had an interview with the guys in the Melusina lounge.

Versus You describe themselves as a punk band with many influences such as Berkeley and Chicago punk bands and sight Tom Petty as one of their main heros. They've been together for five years now and are one of the best known bands in Luxembourg.

“We originally wanted to call ourselves Versus God, but it was too much so we decided on a much stupider version of that and that's Versus You and it means nothing at all” explained Eric Rosenfeld, songwriter, guitarist and singer.

When asked whether the slightly softer sound of the new single was a conscious choice, Eric smiled as though he knew the question was coming “no, the songs just happen... for this song I have to admit I've been listening a lot to Tom Petty and the Heatbreakers, so it sounds a bit more like folk rock... but it certainly is a punk song and we're a punk band”.

Versus You have done several tours outside of Luxembourg and Giordano Bruno, the band's bass player explained that they have in fact toured Eastern Europe and Russia twice.

I asked the band where they see themselves in ten years time, “in a wheelchair” replied Giordano, “in a wheelchair playing old rock music... stadium rock, Status Quo?” he joked. But aside from the joking, both guys agreed that Versus You was something special and believed that they will still be together playing and touring in ten years.

The band recently played at the Food For Your Senses festival and the next place you can catch them is at Den Atelier supporting Rise Against on 30th June.
