Luxembourg’s traditional Schueberfouer saw its first flock of visitors on Friday. Sheep that is! As they were paraded around the fair to sheepishly examine the 180 attractions.

The first Schueberfouer's began life 670 years ago as a farmer's market, hence the ongoing tradition of running a flock of sheep on opening day around the fair.

As they trotted around the Glacis, they were accompanied by a marching band and local politicians including Xavier Bettel, Lydie Polfer, Claude Wiseler and Marc Angel.

The ribbon to declare the Schueberfouer open was cut by the City's mayor Paul Helminger.

The weekend then proved to be very popular especially as the clouds above Luxembourg dissipated and the sun came out for a glorious Saturday at least, to sample some tasty treats and enjoy the rides, including this year’s new whiteknuckle rollercoaster the Hollenblitz.
The Schueberfouer continues until 8th September.
