Dirty buses out, clean buses in

Green plan for greener city - phase one: city buses

Published on 23/12/2011 by Mike Gordon - Business Review | Read 835 times.

Green party deputy Mayor François Bausch wants to reduce the presence of heavily polluting vehicles such as the long-distance RGTR buses in the city centre, replacing them with more environmentally respectful city buses.

The goal is by 2013 to have all the city's buses meet the the most demanding ecological standards. A budget of 9 million euros is already allocated to renewing the fleet.

Bausch is anticipating a 2015 European directive imposing measures to reduce CO2 emissions. Emissions levels on both the Boulevard Royal and the Avenue de la Liberté already reach excessive levels.
