The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, or Män som hatar kvinnor as it is called in Swedish, is the first book in what is known as the 'Millenium Series' trilogy.
Mikael Blomkvist (played by Daniel Craig), a discredited publisher for the Swedish political magazine Millenium, teams up with a mysterious freelance surveillance agent/researcher named Lisbeth Salander (played by Rooney Mara) to unravel and investigate the truth behind a horrific family history involving the case of a woman who disappeared 40 years ago.
But what actually happened to this woman who vanished all those years ago? Did she simply go missing or was she murdered? After getting in touch with the woman's uncle who suspects that she may have been killed by a member of their own family, Mikael and Lisbeth start to realize that the deeper they dig for the truth, the greater the risk becomes of them being buried alive by family members who seem to be willing to do anything to keep their secrets hidden.
Directed by David Fincher, this American-ized version of the popular original has been met with a resoundingly positive reviews and features a stunning soundtrack from Trent Reznor.
