Culture: Den Atelier increases capacity
Electro room of Soul Kitchen closes as Den Atelier takes over
Luxembourg City's premier concert venue Den Atelier is about to start transformation works to notably increase its capacity. The exact plans still have to be announced but it has been confirmed that neighbouring bar and electro club Soul Kitchen has been bought up by Den Atelier, who now will integrate parts of this club into its venue.
The rumours were confirmed on Friday by Soul Kitchen co-owner Henrik Jensen, who spread the news on Facebook in following words:
As you must have heard by now! Soul Kitchen will change owners from 5th February.
Our next door neighbors from Den Atelier are taking over. Their plan, as far as we know it, is to keep the front bar as it is musically. And make the back room a part of their next door venue. So it's all good news people. We will still have a place to go out in town with soul. It might just be a little different ok.
However…..our Soul kitchen group will no longer be ours but that does not mean that we are finished! So listen up……………..
We call ourself The G-Spotters. We haven’t yet found The G-Spot , so until we do we will keep on looking for hot spots to party!!
Let's keep in touch
This seemingly also puts an end to Den Atelier's plans to move location. In 2011 the people behind the venue had announced that they were in discussions with the City of Luxembourg about a possible move to the skate park in Hollerich which would have greatly increased the capacity. This plan, however, was dropped after massive opposition by the people of Hollerich, who feared a massive nuisance on their doorstep.
