Bus and train passengers caught without a valid ticket will have to pay a 150 euro fine in the future.

People traveling on Luxembourgish bus or train services without a valid ticket will be asked to pay a higher fine in the future. As the government decided on Friday, a fixed fine of 150 euros will be introduced.

Up until now, fines varied from between 30 and 200 euros. The current law of 2004 regarding fines in public transport had to be changed after an Esch court deemed the legislation to be illegal.
