Alternative Arts organized this race for the 22nd time, to the profit of London Air Ambulance. About 60 people dressed up in costumes and raced up and down the road flipping pancakes in their frying pans.

We’ve been doing this for many many years now and this year we had a great turnout again, about 15 teams participated in the competition.” Said Maggie Pinhorn, organizer of the race, who likes her pancakes with lemon juice and sugar.

The winning team, H&J Flippers, won an engraved frying pan, and a bottle of champagne. Prizes were also awarded to the runner-ups and the best-dressed team. Every participant got a free pancake.

The race was advertised online and in the surrounding areas, a lot of the participants found out about the race through their work. The teams were either sponsored or brought a donation for the charity on the day of the race.

It’s like sport’s day for grown-ups, and you get free pancakes, what’s not to love about it,” said Sophie Taylor, who was part of the team ‘Her Royal Majesty’s Pancake Tossers’ which won the best-dressed category.

Alternative Arts’, a company based near Brick Lane in East London, is an organization, which aims at making art accessible to everyone. It’s been organizing the event since the beginning.

The event, which attracts a lot of people every year, is aimed at raising money for London Air Ambulance, which is also based in East London. The charity hasn’t changed since the beginning.

“We always pick London Air Ambulance as a charity, it’s on our doorstep, it’s a true East London neighborhood charity. We hear their helicopters pass over our heads every day on their way to rescuing people.” Said Mrs Pinhorn.

The event, which took place in a really hearty and warm atmosphere, was narrated by two clowns who also ensured the proper course of the race. Entertainment was also provided by The Lost Marbles, a string band, who played music during and after the race.

The pancakes were provided by Csaba’s, a Hungarian restaurant. The restaurant is situated right off Brick Lane, and has supported this event since the start of it. Everyone involved in this event was very cheery and ensured a lighthearted feel all throughout the occasion.

It was so much fun, the people who organized it as well as the public made it a really cool event. I’m definitely coming back next year with more people and hopefully more money to give to the London Air Ambulance.” Said Ollie Maitland, who was part of the runner-up team, the Supertroopers.
