Due to the bad snowy weather overnight on Saturday, Luxembourg Airport was closed.

In a Press release, Luxair stated that this closure resulted in 2 Sunday morning flights from Egypt being diverted to Liège in Belgium.

Flight LG918 from Sharm El Sheikh and LG 216 from Hurghada landed at Liège on Sunday morning affecting some 270 who were subsequently transferred back to Luxembourg by bus.

It was also announced that the pilots and crews had actually reached the limits of their legal flying time due to the detour to Liege, meaning that the planes did not return to Luxembourg until later on Sunday.

These were not the only flights affected by the airport closure as there were also delays to departures to Djerba, Monastir, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich and Lanzarote on Sunday morning.
