Luxembourg artists for Haïti programme
The oragaisination set up in February called 'Artists for Haiti' have now published a full programme of events due to take place in March.
Recently, the dramatic pictures of the earthquake that has devastated Haiti were shown all around the world. Inspired by the worldwide effort to help the Haitian population, Luxembourgish artists Steven Pitman, David Goldrake and Tascha have joined forces in order to organize an event that will support the Haitians and contribute to the reconstruction of their future.
That’s how the 1st February marked the birth of the initiative ’Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’. This, initially quite modest, idea quickly gave birth to the facebook group also named ’Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’ which counts over 4800 members today The incredibly fast growth of this group made Steven Pitman, David Goldrake et Tascha realize the strong feeling of solidarity among the Luxembourgish population That in turn made them decide to create a gigantic 3 day event which, on top of bringing together a vast range of organisations, venues and artists from all over Luxembourg, would bring together the entire Luxembourgish country to support the cause.
‘Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’ Programme:
- 19 March 2010 – ’Luxembourg Bars and Restaurants for Haiti’
A lot of bars & restaurants throughout Luxembourg will take part in our charity event and have agreed to donate 10% (or more) of their earnings from this evening.
- 20 March 2010 – ’Luxembourg DJ’s for Haiti’ - LUXEXPO
The various DJ’s, show acts & dancers fro all over Luxembourg will be hosting an evening full of music, dance and surprises!
- 21 March 2010 – ’Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’ - LUXEXPO
A unique gala evening with music, dance, juggling, magic and various exhibitions.
So far, the efforts of the three artists seem to have been successful, as up until now
they have received the unconditional and unanimous support of all the partners they have contacted to bring their project to life. Thus they hope to draw the attention of a maximum of people as well as gather a maximum of financial funds to give the citizens of Haiti back their dreams and their future. They hope to make difference and eventually turn the initiative ’Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’ into ’Luxembourg Citizens for Haiti’.
All proceeds from this weekend as well as from upcoming projects from ’Luxembourg
Artists for Haiti’, will go directly to Caritas Luxembourg, ’Luxembourg Artists for Haiti’’s official partner. The foundation Caritas Luxembourg is committed to use the entire proceeds for their rehabilitation and reconstruction program in Haiti.
