Great honour for Alain Hamer: The Luxembourgish FIFA official will referee tomorrow’s Champions League last 16, second leg encounter between FC Barcelona and VFB Stuttgart. The 44-year-old will be assisted by François Mangen and Mark Simons from Belgium. The fourth official will be Luxembourger Luc Wilmes.
The first leg between VFB Stuttgart and the reigning Champions League winners ended in a 1-1 draw. Alain Hamer also refereed last Sunday’s local derby between Fola and Jeunesse Esch. This was good practice and he had the game under control. François Mangen was the linesman.
