Luxembourg Sports Minister Romain Schneider gave his support to cyclist Kim Kirchen, who has been in an induced coma since Friday following a heart scare.

Schneider wished the sportsman a speedy recovery after the serious health issues experienced during the Tour of Switzerland.

There were grave fears for the health of the 31-year-old Luxembourg cyclist at the weekend.

According to a press release from Team Katusha, he is now in a stable condition after being placed in an artificial coma.

He was expected to be brought round during the next few days. He was put in the artificial coma to help specialists better evaluate his medical state.

The minister also congratulated Kirchen’s rival and fellow Luxembourg cyclist Frank Schleck, who won the Swiss competition on Sunday.
