Luxembourg's Frank Schleck breaks collarbone in Tour de France crash (video)

In a serious fall during the third stage of the Tour de France, Frank Schleck suffered a disastrous fall on cobblestones breaking his collarbone in three places.

It is the end of the Tour de France for Luxembourg's Frank Schleck after falling and shattering his collarbone in three places.

It was during the third stage of the Tour that Schleck lost control on a rather treacherous cobblestone sections nearing the end of the 213km stage in Belgium from Wanze to Arenburg, and crashed falling hard stoned sector.

The winner of the stage was Norwegian Thor Hushovd with Brit Geraint Thomas coming second. Frank Schleck's brother Andy came in a very respectable fifth place. This left Lance Armstrong way down in the table in 32nd position.

Andy and Frank Schleck's team, Saxo Bank, released a statement after Frank's bad fall: “After the horrible crash earlier today, Team Saxo Bank's Frank Schleck was examined at a local hospital where x-rays revealed three fractures of his left collarbone which obviously stopped the national champion of Luxembourg from continuing today's stage”.
