Get on your horse for 44th "Tour de Luxembourg à Cheval"
The tour de Luxembourg is in full swing, not of the cycling kind but on horseback, covering a total route 184km long.
From 7 to 12 August, this year's "Tour de Luxembourg à cheval" takes place.
The trek's 44th Edition takes you on a ride from Pommerloch in Alscheid, Munshausen, Dahnen (in Germany) and ends six days later in Weiswampach. All participants take part astride their well-trained horses, for those with a love and nature and of course posses good riding skills.
184 km on horseback
The meeting place was a supermarket car park in Pommerlach where participants we offered a a nice glass of wine to build up their strength before embarking on the 184km trek. 32 participants signed up, and were divided into two groups before the week-long trail.
The first stage took the riders through Eschweiler to Alscheid. A special truck equipped with kitchens greeted the riders on their arrival.
Of course, the horses were not forgotten, with special stables along the route. Many riders choosing to sleep in the stables alongside their trusted steed.
On Sunday the route passeed through the Kiischpelt, where Mayor Armand Mayer greeted the riders and horses.
On Monday, the region of Pintsch will be the destination with an overnight stop in Munshausen on the program. The fourth stage on Tuesday will lead the riders to Dahnen in the German Eifel region.
Wednesday sees a trek to Weiswampach on the program, followed on Thursday, by the “lake stage” the last, along the Belgian-Luxembourg border ending up back in Weiswampach.
