Angel At My Table, one of the rapidly rising stars of the Luxembourgish music scene, recently took part in a competition, battling against about 70 bands for the right to perform at a major 3-day German music festival this coming Thursday to Saturday.

Being the only band taking part from the Grand Duchy, Angel At My Table rapidly defeated the long list of mostly German bands in a Facebook competition to win the ultimate prize of a performance slot at the popular Rocco del Schlacko music festival in Püttlingen, not far from Saarbrücken, taking place from 12 to 14 August.

Almost 70 bands fought fiercely on the Rocco del Schlacko Facebook page campaigning for votes, but were no match for Luxembourg’s only entry into the competition.

“We discovered this competition on the internet, and with our popular and active fan page on Facebook with its members eager to help us, we thought we stood a good chance to win” Joe Flies, the band’s drummer explained. “We want to perform abroad not just in Luxembourg and show people just what we are capable of and that we are no ordinary band, so this competition was an ideal opportunity. It's a really big festival and we thought it would be amazing to play there”.

Angel At My Table applied to the festival organisers and were lucky to be chosen for the final voting.

“We were really thrilled to win as we campaigned hard. We spent two weeks making publicity for votes and were really proud and touched by our fans who supported us during the voting. A big thank you to all of them”, stated the band.

Rocco del Schlacko takes place from this Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 August, Angel At My Table flying the flag for Luxembourg, hit the stage on Thursday at 7:45pm in Püttlingen.
