Learn Luxembourgish from English online!
Up to now, most Luxembourgish language courses have been from French or German. For a lot of us that means including another foreign language to learn Luxembourgish. Now you can learn directly from English!
QuattroPole, the organisation that brings together four cities of the region: Luxembourg, Metz, Trier and Saarbrucken has announced that the internet e-learning language course for Luxembourgish is now available for English speakers.
Similar to the lessons already available for French speakers on the internet platform: www.elearning.lu all modules are now available on the same site in English. Up to now, nearly all available lessons in Luxembourgish have been from French or German meaning that for a lot of people, they have to go through 1 foreign language to get to Luxembourgish.
According to the on-line course providers, more than19,000 users have already registered for e-learning courses in Luxembourgish.
With the addition of English as a language to learn from, Luxembourg City hopes that this will boost the number of foreign residents and workers as well as cross-border workers, learning Luxembourgish. "By learning the language people get to know Luxembourg culture and mentality. For the city this means reducing language barriers, improving communication and promoting the languages of the region", explained Michel Lukic, employee of the City of Luxembourg eCity department.
The interactive, fun and easy-to-use QuattroPole course has been developed by the University of Luxembourg and the Grand Duchy Ministry of Education.
