In a new report for Luxembourg Airport, figures reveal that passenger traffic, is rising, slowly but surely by 0.9% between January and June 2010 with 716,944 passengers compared to 710,608 passengers recorded during the first half of 2009.

This increase could well have achieved a 3.5% increase compared to the same period of 2009 if the month on April is excluded from the calculations, which declined compared to 2009 (-17%), due to the icelandic volcano ash cloud when air traffic was disrupted throughout Europe.

This increase also happened in freight traffic. The number of tons of cargo processed increased by 15.6% on average for the first six months of the year compared to the same period in 2009 with 346,393 tons in 2010 compared to 299,512 tons in the previous year. But let's not forget that about 100 tons of Gëlle Fra to China may well be included in this calculation!

Regarding the summer, Luxembourg Airport experienced a very good start to the season, with the month of July 2010 outperforming the previous year with 177,852 passengers, an increase of 8.5%.

The the number of passengers in July 2010 reached almost the same figure as July 2008, a period before the global economic crisis.

This year as the previous, 11 airlines and 8 partner flights provide services to and from Luxembourg Airport.
