When Peggy Watson was cleaning out her father’s footlocker, she stumbled across something very interesting – a Catholic missal written in French.

Lieutenant Perry Watson, Peggy’s father, was a soldier in the American army during World War II and was stationed with his battalion in Waldbillig in the winter of 1944– 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge.

Peggy Watson states that her father Lieutenant Watson took the Catholic missal from a family’s home during this time “to hold onto something holy during a very unholy experience of war”.

After 65 years, Peggy Watson travelled to Luxembourg on August 14th to return the prayer book to the Weydert family still living in Waldillig.
