A stabbing took place in Esch-sur-Alzette in which a 40 year old woman was killed.

The incident took place on Wednesday at about 4pm on rue Michel-Rodange when a domestic dispute in a family home flared up into a violent crime finishing with the tragic fatal stabbing of 40 year old Maria Gomes Sanchez.

According to preliminary information, this was not the first dispute for a couple who came from Cape Verde. However Wednesday's senseless conflict, resulted in three children; 2 girls aged 10 and 15, and a 13 year old boy, without a mother.

When emergency services arrived on the scene the woman was still alive, however despite attempts to treat her wounds, she did not survive.

The husband, the suspect aged 37, was remanded in custody.
