Bertrange bike tour fund raiser revs up
A motorbike meeting of a different kind takes place in Bertrange this Saturday as bikers set off on a fund-raising tour in conjunction with Red Cross
This Saturday see the “Bike Tour” event take place in Bertrange, open to all motorbike riders. It all starts at 1:30pm and the idea behind the event is to raise money for the charity organisation "Firwat net?" who, together with the Red Cross organise fund raising events to to raise money for a health centre located in Guinea Conakry in order for them to gain easier access to drinking water.
The objective is clear: to collect 10,000 euros to drill a borehole for drinking water wells in the rural health center in Tanen, Guinea Conakry. Specialist consultants will also be sent to help with prenatal care, childbirth, early surgery, emergency care, trauma, vaccination, and a comprehensive care of AIDS patients. However working conditions are precarious. For those that collect and carry water, they must transport it more than 800 metre is order to clean equipment, rooms, operating theatres, and of course giving patients water to drink.
The bikers, through a financial contribution of EUR 4, will help to finalise the project.
Everything starts at 11am at Maison de la Jeunesse Croix-Rouge (10, Cité Henri Dunant à Bertrange) and the start of a big motorbike ride is at 1:30pm with a return at 4:30pm.
All are welcome.
