The tenth Terres Rouges festival took place on Sunday to a crowd of about 5,000 in perfect sunny weather.
The whole day kicked off with local band Angel At My Table, adding Terres Rouges to their impressive list of festivals played at this year including Rock-A-Field, Food For Your Senses and Rocko del Schlako in Germany.
Super Heros in Ties, a Luxembourgish/French band not that known to many, were up next having recently won a local music competition award.
And one more Luxembourg band played. Eternal Tango, having just raced back from a gig in Berlin the night before especially to play at Terres Rouges.
A flurry of international acts followed including the sounds of the German rap and commercial electro-pop group Die Atzen whom the crowd seemed to go wild for. With such irritating ditties as “Disco Pogo” and “Ananas” that grasp your brain and refuse to let go.
The Parlotones from South Africa stood out as an impressive act, and Stanfour who can often be heard on Luxembourg radio with a kind of Coldplay sound got the crowd going.
Gabriella Cilmi (that's pronounced “Chill-me” by the way) swept onto stage and was a performance that many fans had come especially to see, with a varied repertoire from both her first and new album, which included her now classic song “Sweet about me”. We had an interview with Gabriella Cilmi which is coming soon.
But the highlight for many people's night was Finnish group The Rasmus who have now performed in Luxembourg several times always proving popular with Grand Duchy crowds.
Altogether a good festival although not quite hitting the same level of head-line acts as previous years, but then again we've been spoilt in Luxembourg this years with festivals and concerts.
