The Luxembourg leader will come head to head with Swiss nationalist party vice president Christophe Blocher in Zurich.

Blocher made headlines last week when he likened Juncker’s politics to that of the notorious Nazi leader Adolf Hilter.

The barbed comment followed a suggestion by the Luxembourg leader that Switzerland should be incorporated into the European Union. In his speech, he described its non participation thus far as an “absurdity”.

Juncker dismissed the Swiss politician's words saying that his speech had been exaggerated.

Juncker commented: "In the interview with Die Zeit I was very friendly towards Switzerland, I said nothing negative about the country because there is nothing negative to say."
